Copywriting is a huge part of social media management. Knowing what to say, how to say it, and when changes with each location, customers and their needs, and even the products behind the company image.
Brand voice is important to develop and maintain. Your brand might be fun and lighthearted, and while your customers may match those characteristics, the voice behind your brand needs to remain professional while still fun. Another brand might have a more serious product and would need a more refine, mature voice behind the brand. When creating your brand’s voice, consider a few things before bringing your individual personality into the company’s overall voice:
– Who are your customers?
– Is this your passion brand (one you’ve built from the bottom up) or a sub-brand like a franchise?
– What will your CTAs look like most often?
– Is your business an eCommerce business?
– How do you engage with your customers and clients off social media?
– Where do you engage? Online storefront, brick & mortar store, face to face contact, etc.?
– How much does your product speak for your brand?
– What is your product’s personality?
Before I build and manage social media for my clients, understanding their brand’s voice is imperative. Fitting in with the personality of the brand is important because your brand’s voice might not sound like yours or mine, but we should both be able to convey the voice in our posts.

Many of these sites coincide with other sites such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and even SnapChat and TikTok. It’s important to understand the audience for each social media platform is different, therefore the message tone needs to differ as well. It’s also important to know your audience could very well be on all platforms, so don’t discount a platform because it doesn’t fit into your personal life. The world of business is a deep ocean with fish swimming all over, not only where you sail your boat.
